+ Lenovo CEO says mobile internet products will soon account for ‘70 to 80 percent’ of sales By admin 12 March 2010 at 3:12 pm and have No Comments

Lenovo may mostly be associated with laptops and all-business desktops these days, but it looks like the company’s CEO hopes that won’t be the case for too much longer. Speaking with the AP, Yang Yuanqing dropped the somewhat surprising statement that he expects mobile internet products to account for between 70 and 80 percent of the company’s sales “within three to five years.” Of course, Yang didn’t specify exactly what constitutes a “mobile internet product” for Lenovo, but we’d assume it includes things like the company’s new IdeaPad S10-3t (and possibly even traditional laptops), or else it really has its work cut out for itself

+ OptiTrack mixes motion capture with a virtual camera for delicious, Avatar-esque results By admin 11 March 2010 at 5:48 pm and have No Comments

We knew virtual camera systems are starting gain traction, particularly in the world of cinema and within James Cameron’s little set of toys, but it’s pretty wild to see one in action. NaturalPoint is showing off its OptiTrack motion capture system at GDC, a budget-friendly multi-camera setup (if $6k is your idea of budget-friendly), but it also has a prototype of sorts of its upcoming virtual camera system.

+ Window G85HD PMP is somewhere between awesome and awkward By admin 17 February 2010 at 4:54 am and have No Comments

You know, the vast majority of Chinese PMPs are underwhelming, and we can’t say for sure that the Windows G85HD is any different, but the video walkthrough of the user interface has us interested at the very lease. Reportedly, the all-white, touchscreen-centric device packs a Rockchip RK2806 processor, a 4.3-inch panel (800 x 480), 3.5mm headphone jack, 720p video output, 8GB or 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, FM radio tuner, a Chinese-English dictionary and support for a multitude of file formats

+ Still no fix in sight for Alienware M17x stuttering audio issue, maybe you can help By admin 12 February 2010 at 10:23 am and have No Comments

Back in November we reported on another in what’s becoming a long line of issues with Dell’s and Alienware’s laptops, with M17x owners suffering from ” skipping, stuttering audio ” — rather unbecoming in a high-end gaming rig. Dell was quickly on the case and initially indicated that a BIOS update last month contained a fix, only to learn that it didn’t resolve all things for all people.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Apple is supposedly set to introduce a tablet device (AKA the Apple Tablet , iSlate , etc.) at its latest event that will change the lives of every man, woman, and child on the planet. Sure, it could just be a fresh version of iLife and an 8GB iPhone 3GS, but we kinda doubt that
