Remember how Samsung downsized the Wave to make the Wave 723 and killed off the pricey, fancy Super AMOLED display in the process? Yeah, well, the same rule applies to the Android-powered Galaxy line — so if you were hoping to see some mind-blowing contrast ratios on Sammy’s new PMP… well, you can just keep on hoping (and besides, even the mighty Tab has gone the TFT route for now).

This one’s pretty self-explanatory, but no less significant — Apple’s sold 275 million of those ubiquitous white earbuds since it swallowed the portable audio market whole a few years back.

Sure, that laptop you’re staring out might have been purchased by your company’s IT department, but who hasn’t snuck on a film or game to fill the desperate void between PowerPoint presentations and time sheets? Problem is, those teeny tiny tinny laptop speakers aren’t exactly immersive

A portable game console mod is like a still life: sure, it’s been done before, but it’s very satisfying when it’s done well. Or, to take the analogy further: where a still life lets the artist arrange the design elements with in a composition any way he wants, the modder works with elements necessary for game play, but is free to arrange them in the manner of his choosing. Our man Techknott, who once thrilled us with his Wireless Visual Interface for the PS3 , is back on the scene with the third iteration of his very own Dreamcast Portable — and it just might be a work of art in its own right.

Truth be told, it’s been awhile since we’ve seen a gadget-laced jacket that really caught our eye. There’s the occasional winter coat with a built-in iPod slot, and there’s a few unaffordable threads that don’t much matter to the vast majority of you, but it’s difficult to think of a single overcoat that’s as connected as this. Teased by Scottevest, the forthcoming Carry-On-Jacket is as functional as it is delightful, with an internal pocket made specifically for touchscreen devices so you’ll never even have to reach inside to skip tracks

Yes, another manufacturer is throwing its weight behind the little, blue, but mostly the same USB 3.0 plug. Iomega has released a refreshed version of its eGo line of drives, with two models that support the new standard: the $129 500GB eGo Portable, and the $149 1TB or $229 2TB (and rather less portable) eGo Desktop. If you’re not quite so forward-looking, USB 2.0 models of the Portable line are available in 320GB, 500GB, and 1TB sizes, and there are Mac-specific, FireWire 800 editions of the Portable and Desktop drives available in 1 and 2TB sizes
