It’s just that we’re adults , with actual utility bills and Netflix memberships, and alive and breathing significant others .

+ Analyst: Call of Duty Online could make $100 million in its first year By admin 30 July 2010 at 10:30 pm and have No Comments

Rumors have been flying around about a subscription-based Call of Duty game for some time now — Activision boss Bobby Kotick loves the idea , because he loves money, and the company’s other subscription-based game, World of Warcraft , is quite the cash-printing machine. So why not go down that road? Many still believe Activision will, including Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey

+ Report: retailer lists ‘Hardened,’ ‘Prestige’ editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops By admin 30 July 2010 at 1:20 pm and have No Comments

Last year’s “Hardened” and “Prestige” editions of Modern Warfare 2 set a precedent — a precedent apparently being reinforced by similar “limited editions” for Call of Duty: Black Ops , as spotted by IGN . The listing was seen over on Buy.com (it has since been pulled) for “Hardened” and “Prestige” editions of the forthcoming CoD sequel for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, though unfortunately no details are given in the listings. For its part, Activison told Joystiq “We haven’t made any announcements to date,” but we would be downright shocked if the two editions don’t pop up in a press release in the coming weeks; we’re only a few months out from the game’s release , after all.

+ Activision studios head brings development strategy into focus By admin 07 July 2010 at 8:00 am and have No Comments

“It doesn’t make sense anymore,” Activision executive VP of worldwide studios Dave Stohl declared to us in a small office, hidden away from the noisy E3 show floor. “You’ve really got to focus.” The executive, who oversees every development studio that Activision owns, was reflecting on the old business model that encouraged studios to take on multiple projects at once. Today, the industry’s leading third-party publisher has a new mantra: one game per studio

+ Scope out the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops shots By admin 02 July 2010 at 1:30 pm and have No Comments

Okay, so only two of these new screenshots from Call of Duty: Black Ops are actually taken from a gameplay perspective, but there’s no denying that they look pretty fantastic. (Which isn’t surprising, given how great the game looked in motion at E3.) Our favorite is the one where the guy is shooting at something off-screen. Wait — that’s pretty much all of them

+ No co-op for Call of Duty: Black Ops’ campaign By admin 03 June 2010 at 4:00 pm and have No Comments

Though Call of Duty: Black Ops ‘ Cold War setting is a new feature for the series, one element of the game will stay true to the franchise’s norms: the game’s campaign will only be a single-player experience. Speaking to MTV , Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia explained, “single-player is the epic, cinematic, seat-of-your-pants thrill ride that you star in,” while the game’s cooperative offerings will be packaged in completely separate “unique co-op modes.” Sounds fairly reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2 ’s Spec Ops missions, though Lamia quickly clarified that Black Ops ‘ co-op mode will be “different” from that of the last game in the series. Could we possibly see more zombies added to the mix?
