Lenovo spin-off announces Kinect-inspired eBox console for China 28 August 2010 at 3:00 am by admin

There is a huge untapped market for console manufacturers: China. While Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo struggle to deal with Chinese government regulations, one company is seeking to create a new console specifically for the territory. Lenovo is prepping the “eBox,” a new console that has Kinect -esque functionality in mind.

Finally, the first details on Sony’s exclusive Mafia 2 content ( announced at E3 ) have surfaced. An early look at the game’s Trophy list reveals that the PS3 version will have free add-on DLC titled “Jimmy’s Vendetta.” From the Trophy descriptions , it appears the add-on includes several missions and an arcade-style points system, multiplier included.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime may be committed to improving the online experience on the Big N’s platforms, but legendary designer and Guy Who Makes Things Happen[TM] at the company, Shigeru Miyamoto, doesn’t seem inclined to exactly reinvent network play with 3DS. “We look at [online] more in terms of what can we do to provide that Nintendo flavor or magic to that community or connection experience,” he told IGN Australia in an E3 interview the site just now found behind its virtual sofa cushions. “One of the ways that we’re looking at doing that, is the idea of really strengthening the tag mode functionality,” he explained, referring to an “always on” data-sharing feature most famously employed by Dragon Quest IX on DS

OnLive has posted a “state of the service” on its official blog after ten days of accepting beta users, and from the report, everything seems to be going well. While there were a few bugs, the service has been up 24/7 since launch, and OnLive says it’s “accommodated far more members at this stage than ever anticipated.” We’ve contacted the company to see if we can find out just how many members OnLive is serving so far. And the company is also adding games — Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is being added this week, hours before stores open to sell the physical copy of the title

Next Tuesday, Fat Princess ‘ roster of playable classes will be fattened considerably when the Ninja, Pirate and Giant archetypes (which have been frequently teased over the past year) hit the PSN as part of the “Fat Roles” pack . The expansion, which will cost $4.99, includes the three classes and four new maps, all of which are previewed in the trailer posted after the jump. If you’re strapped for cash, the game is also getting a free update adding four-player couch multiplayer to the game, which should lead to some noisy banter to concern your neighbors.
